The music never resumed.
Instead, the ballroom became strangely quiet.
Daniel walked toward Linda.
"I'm so sorry," he said sincerely. "You deserved respect the moment you walked in."
Linda nodded.
"Respect shouldn't depend on who owns the building."
Emily's eyes filled with tears.
She had spent years trying to earn Margaret's approval.
Watching Linda stand with such quiet dignity made her realize something.
She didn't need permission to be enough.
Margaret finally found her voice.
"I...I didn't know."
Linda looked at her kindly.
"Exactly."
The words landed harder than any insult.
"You decided who I was before learning a single thing about me."
Margaret lowered her head.

She felt ashamed instead of angry.
The wedding planner cautiously approached Linda.
"Mrs. Harris...would you still like the reception to continue?"
Linda smiled.
"Of course."
"This day belongs to the bride and groom, not to pride."
Applause slowly spread through the ballroom.
Guests who had remained silent earlier now walked over to thank Linda for her grace.
Even members of the hotel staff smiled with pride.
