CHAPTER 2: THE SECRET EVERYONE FORGOT
Outside the ballroom, Chloe frantically dialed her father.
“Dad, you need to fix this!”
Her father answered immediately.
“What happened?”
“She embarrassed me! Victoria Sterling humiliated me in front of everyone!”
There was a long silence.
Then came an unexpected response.
“Chloe…”
His voice trembled.
“Do not fight that woman.”
“What?”
“You have absolutely no idea who she is.”
Inside the ballroom, Victoria sat quietly while an assistant replaced her ruined gown with another elegant outfit.
An elderly man approached her.
“Mrs. Sterling, would you like us to issue a public statement?”
Victoria shook her head.
“No.”
“Why not?”
She smiled softly.
“Because humiliation teaches lessons better than revenge.”
Meanwhile, Chloe's father arrived at the hotel in panic.
The moment he saw Victoria…

He apologized.
“Mrs. Sterling, I'm deeply sorry for my daughter's behavior.”

“Dad?!”
Her father turned toward her.
“You owe her an apology.”
Chloe stared in disbelief.
“Why are you acting like she's royalty?”
Victoria finally spoke.
“Twenty-two years ago, your father nearly lost his company.”
The entire room listened.
“Thousands of employees would've lost their jobs.”
She looked at him.
“My foundation saved it.”
Chloe slowly turned toward her father.
Tears filled his eyes.
“She gave us a second chance.”
The world Chloe thought she controlled suddenly shattered.
