At the ceremony, Maya stood beside her little daughter.
Colonel Vance handed her the restored Guardian Star.
"It belongs with your family."
Thousands stood and applauded.
Veterans saluted.
Many openly cried.
Maya accepted the medal with shaking hands.

She looked at her daughter.

The crowd erupted into applause once again.
