Chapter 2: The Security Footage
Richard Hawthorne, the family patriarch, finally stepped forward.
"Enough."
He turned toward the security office.
"Pull up every camera in this house."
Claire's face tightened.
"Dad, that's unnecessary. We all know she took it."
Richard ignored her.
Minutes later, everyone gathered around the massive television in the library.
The footage showed Emma cleaning the living room.
She never touched the jewelry box.
Then another camera angle appeared.
Claire entered the room alone.
She opened the jewelry box herself.
Everyone leaned closer.
Instead of taking out the bracelet...
Claire slipped it into the pocket of her own designer blazer.
