CHAPTER 4: The False Accusation

The alarm echoed through the mansion just before sunset.

Household staff gathered in confusion as Ethan unlocked the master bedroom safe.

Madeline's diamond bracelet—one of the few treasures he had kept untouched since her death—was gone.

Patricia gasped dramatically.

"I'm so sorry, Ethan."

The head of security immediately suggested searching every employee's belongings.

Clara quietly nodded.

"If that's necessary, go ahead."

Her small canvas bag was opened.

Inside, wrapped in a kitchen towel, lay the missing bracelet.

The room fell silent.

Several employees stared in disbelief.

Ethan looked at Clara.

She didn't cry.

She didn't defend herself.

She only whispered, "I didn't put it there."

The twins suddenly ran into the hallway after hearing the commotion.

Avery saw the bracelet.

Then she saw Clara's frightened face.

"No!"

She threw herself in front of Clara.

"She didn't do it!"

Sophie clung to Ethan's leg.

"Daddy... please don't make Clara leave."

For one terrifying moment, Ethan almost doubted the woman who had protected his daughters every single day.

Then he remembered the security system.

Every hallway.

Every bedroom entrance.

Every service corridor.

He turned to the head of security.

"Pull every camera recording from the last twenty-four hours."

Patricia's smile disappeared.
