The police officer froze as the urgent command crackled through his radio.
"Release her immediately!"
The handcuffs clicked open.
Elena rubbed her sore wrists while her twin boys wrapped their arms around her legs, crying harder than before. She hugged them tightly, unable to speak.
At the front door, Victoria's confident smile disappeared.
"What is this?" she demanded.
Before anyone answered, Daniel walked out of the mansion holding a tablet.
"The security footage tells a different story."
He turned the screen toward the officers.
Every second was unmistakable.
Victoria entered the master bedroom after midnight.
She unlocked the safe using the family code.
She removed the missing diamond necklace, placed it inside her designer handbag, and quietly closed the safe before returning to her room.
The driveway fell silent.
One officer slowly turned toward Victoria.
"Ma'am... you're under investigation."
Victoria laughed nervously.
"This has to be fake."
Daniel looked directly into her eyes.
"The footage is stored on three independent servers. It can't be altered."
For the first time that night, Victoria looked afraid.
