Chapter 3: The Man Who Stole a Child

Enzo told Harper everything.
She refused to believe him.
"My father may be cruel," she said, "but he's still my father."
Enzo placed the birth certificate, photographs, and DNA report on the table.
Harper's hands shook.
Every piece fit together.
The lies.
The punishments.
The hatred.
Richard Whitcomb had never loved her because she reminded him of the man he had betrayed.
For twenty-five years he had hidden the truth while using Harper as both prisoner and bargaining chip.
Harper broke down in tears.
Enzo didn't speak.
He simply sat beside her until the crying stopped.
When she finally looked at him, she whispered,
"What happens now?"
