CHAPTER 2: THE TRUTH THEY BURIED

The room erupted.

Voices overlapped—accusations, denial, fear.

“You’re lying!” a woman screamed. “How could you possibly know this?”

The boy’s voice stayed steady.

“Because I was there.”

Silence dropped like a stone.

He described everything—the rain, the sound of metal crushing, the moment a man pulled him away before anyone else arrived.

“And he told me not to tell anyone,” the boy added. “But he left something behind.”

From his pocket, he pulled out a silver bracelet.

The entire family froze.

A woman’s breath broke.

“That… belonged to him…”

Before anyone could respond, the doors at the back of the hall slowly opened.
