Emma stared at him as though she had seen a ghost.

"Knox?"

Her voice cracked.

"You... you're alive."

He crossed the room in two strides and dropped to his knees beside her.

The chains came off within seconds.

Emma collapsed into his arms, trembling so violently she could barely speak.

Lily ran downstairs.

"Mommy!"

Emma wrapped both arms around her daughter and cried harder than she had in years.

Knox looked at them together.

Then at Lily.

Then back at Emma.

His voice barely came out.

"Is she...?"

Emma nodded before he could finish.

"Yes."

Silence.

"She's your daughter."

Everything inside Knox seemed to stop.

Six years.

Six birthdays.

Six Christmas mornings.

Six years he never knew existed.

Emma wiped tears from her face.

"I tried to find you."

"What happened?"

She looked toward the man now being held upstairs by the bikers.

"After your accident, everyone told me you were dead."

Knox frowned.

"I was in a coma for months."

"I know that now."

Emma closed her eyes.

"When I woke up after Lily was born, Victor was there."

She swallowed hard.

"He owned the rehabilitation center."

"He said you abandoned us."

"He controlled every phone call."

"Every letter."

"Every visitor."

"He forged documents."

"He convinced everyone I belonged to him."

Knox's jaw tightened.

Victor hadn't simply kidnapped Emma.

He had stolen an entire family.

Sirens echoed in the distance.

The county sheriff arrived.

Victor smiled as deputies placed him in handcuffs.

"You'll never prove anything."

Emma looked down.

"I kept records."

Everyone turned toward her.

"I knew someday someone would believe me."

Hidden beneath loose floorboards were journals.

Photographs.

Medical reports.

Voice recordings.

Six years of documented abuse.

Enough evidence to bury Victor forever.

Months later, the courtroom was packed.

Jurors watched video after video.

Listened to recording after recording.

Victor's arrogance slowly disappeared.

When the verdict came...

"Guilty on all counts."

He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
