Chapter 3 – One Last Chance

Chapter 3 – One Last Chance

Three weeks later...

Damian was living in a small apartment.

His luxury cars had been auctioned.

His penthouse belonged to the bank.

Even Veronica had disappeared the day his fortune vanished.

One rainy afternoon, Damian received an unexpected letter.

No lawyers.

No threats.

Just a simple invitation.

"Meet me tomorrow.

One final conversation.

— Elena."

He almost didn't go.

But curiosity won.

They met at a small neighborhood café.

No cameras.

No security.

No expensive suits.

Only two cups of coffee.

Damian stared at her.

"Why invite me?"

Elena smiled gently.

"Because revenge was never my goal."

He lowered his eyes.

"I deserve everything that happened."

"You do," she admitted.

"But people can still choose who they become after failure."

She slid a folder across the table.

Inside was a job offer.

Not as an executive.

Not as a director.

An entry-level operations manager at one of her nonprofit foundations.

The salary was modest.

The work involved helping struggling small businesses recover.

Damian looked confused.

"You still trust me?"

"No."

"I trust that hardship changes people."

"And now you finally understand the value of those you once looked down on."

May you like

For the first time in years...

Damian cried.
