Chapter 2: Every Camera Told the Same Story

Chapter 2: Every Camera Told the Same Story
Khloe was rushed into emergency evaluation.
Marcus refused to leave the operating floor.
He sat outside the maternity trauma unit, staring at the dried blood on his hands.
Then Jonathan approached holding a tablet.
"I think you need to see something."
Marcus looked up.
"What is it?"
"The security footage."
The gala had been held inside the hospital's luxury foundation wing.
Every hallway.
Every elevator.
Every private suite.
Every entrance.
All recorded.
Jonathan pressed play.
The first camera showed Isabella following Khloe upstairs.
The second showed her entering the private suite without permission.
The third captured nearly twelve uninterrupted minutes.
There was no audio.
It didn't matter.
The video showed Isabella pointing aggressively.
Khloe repeatedly stepping backward.
Hands raised peacefully.
Trying to avoid confrontation.
Then—
The shove.
The stumble.
The kick.
Marcus clenched his jaw.
But Jonathan wasn't finished.
He switched to another recording.
Parking garage.
Forty-five minutes before the gala.
Marcus watched Isabella embrace another man.
Not casually.
Intimately.
The man handed her a small envelope.
She kissed him.
Then they laughed together before entering separate elevators.
Marcus frowned.
"Who is he?"
Jonathan zoomed in.
Hospital facial-recognition software matched the visitor within seconds.
Victor Hale.
A financial consultant.
More importantly—
Marcus's chief competitor.
Jonathan quietly said,
"There's more."
Phone records obtained through hospital legal authorization—after Isabella assaulted a patient inside the building—revealed hundreds of calls between Isabella and Victor over the previous six months.
Marcus slowly leaned back.
"So while pretending she loved me..."
Jonathan nodded.
"She was working with the one man trying to destroy your company."
Marcus closed his eyes.
"It wasn't just an affair."
"No."
"It was a conspiracy."
At that exact moment, another doctor hurried toward them.
"Mr. Thorne."
Marcus stood instantly.
"Your wife is stable."
He nearly collapsed with relief.
"And the baby?"
"The baby's heartbeat is strong."

For the first time that night...
Marcus allowed himself to breathe.
