Chapter 2: The Man Who Lost Everything

Chapter 2: The Man Who Lost Everything
INT. LUXURY APARTMENT HALLWAY – NIGHT
The apartment door slammed shut.
Not loudly.
Just... finally.
Evelyn disappeared into the elevator without looking back.
Inside the kitchen, silence swallowed the room.
The Husband stood motionless, staring at the ultrasound photo lying on the marble island.
His breathing became shallow.
His hands trembled.
The Other Woman slowly reached for his arm.
Other Woman (quietly):
"...She'll calm down."
He jerked away.
His eyes remained fixed on the tiny black-and-white image.
Two tiny heartbeats.
His children.
The future he had just destroyed.
Husband (whispering):
"What have I done...?"
He stumbled into the hallway.
The elevator was gone.
He pounded the call button over and over.
Nothing.
By the time he reached the lobby...
Evelyn's taxi had already disappeared into the rain.
He called her.
Straight to voicemail.
Again.
Again.
Again.
No answer.
That night he searched every hotel.
Every hospital.
Every place she loved.
She was gone.
As if she had erased herself from his world.
Only then did he understand.
She hadn't left to punish him.
She had left to protect their children.

And for the first time in his life...
He realized that regret comes far too late.
