Part 2: The Woman He Underestimated

At sunrise, a black luxury car waited on the rooftop helipad.
Clara stepped out wearing a simple cream coat, carrying only one suitcase.
Marianne Holt stood beside her.
"You ready?" Marianne asked.
Clara looked back at the penthouse one final time.
Years of memories.
Years of disappointment.
Years wasted trying to earn love from a man who had stopped deserving it.
Then she nodded.
"Yes."
Minutes later, a private jet lifted into the morning sky.
By the time Richard woke up at ten-thirty, Clara was already thousands of miles away.
At first, he wasn't worried.
He poured coffee.
Checked his phone.
No messages.
Then he noticed something unusual.
His credit cards stopped working.
His assistant called.
"Mr. Donovan... we have a problem."
"What now?"
"The foundation accounts are frozen."
Richard sat up.
"What?"
"And your wife has officially filed a lawsuit."
His stomach dropped.
"What lawsuit?"
"Financial fraud, misuse of charitable funds, and unauthorized transfers."
The coffee cup slipped from his hand.
Suddenly his phone exploded with notifications.
Investors.
Board members.
Journalists.
Everyone wanted answers.
His empire was beginning to crack.
Then another message arrived.
From Sabrina.
Richard, reporters are outside my apartment. What is happening?!
For the first time in years, Richard realized something.
Sabrina never loved him.
She loved the money.
And now the money was disappearing.
Two hours later, she blocked his number.
Richard sat alone inside the giant penthouse.
Forty floors above Manhattan.

Surrounded by expensive things.
Yet he had never felt poorer.
