Chapter 5: The Woman Who Refused to Break

Six months later, Julian stood inside a prison courtroom awaiting sentencing.

The judge reviewed thousands of pages of evidence before delivering a sentence that ensured Julian would spend the rest of his life behind bars.

As officers escorted him away, he turned toward Evelyn.

"You ruined everything."

She looked at him without anger.

"No."

"You destroyed it yourself the moment you believed power placed you above everyone else."

Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded her.

Someone asked whether revenge had finally brought her peace.

Evelyn shook her head.

"This was never about revenge."

She glanced toward the morning sunlight.

"It was about making sure no one else would suffer the way my sister did."

With that, she walked away from the cameras, leaving behind the wealth, the lies, and the nightmare that had defined her past.
