CHAPTER 4 — The Trial of a Mother

The courtroom was silent as evidence was presented.

Recordings played through the speakers.

Margaret’s voice filled the room:

“She won’t survive long. We just need the signature.”

Gasps spread through the audience.

Ethan didn’t look at his mother once.

When she finally spoke, her voice cracked.

“She was never good enough for this family.”

That was it.

The final thread snapped.

Ethan stood.

“No,” he said coldly.
“You were never worthy of being called a mother.”

The verdict came days later.

Fraud. Attempted homicide. Conspiracy.

Life imprisonment.
