But Ethan wasn’t looking at her anymore.
He was staring at Ava.
On the floor.
Broken. Trembling. Barely breathing.
The recording on the phone kept playing—Margaret’s voice, the sedatives, the forged documents.
Every word destroyed something inside him.
Lena crawled toward Ava, pulling her away from the scattered pills.
“She’s been drugged for weeks,” Lena said through tears. “Maybe longer.”
