The Queen Returns
The boardroom fell silent the moment Elena walked in.
Twenty-three executives stood at once.
"Good evening, Chairwoman."
Daniel froze.
Only an hour earlier, he had believed he owned the room.
Now no one even looked at him.
The chairman of the board adjusted his glasses.
"Mr. Ward, according to Article 12 of the shareholder agreement, your appointment as CEO has been terminated effective immediately."
Daniel stared blankly.
"What?"
The legal director slid a thick folder across the table.
"Mrs. Elena Ward holds fifty-eight percent of the company's voting shares."
Another document followed.
"Your authority ended the moment she activated the trust."
Daniel looked at Elena.
"You planned this?"
She remained calm.
"No."
"I simply stopped protecting you."
The words struck harder than any lawsuit.
For years she had hidden behind him.
Negotiated contracts.
Prevented hostile takeovers.
Saved failing investments.
While he smiled for magazine covers.
Now everyone finally understood who had truly built the empire.
The board unanimously voted.
Elena Ward became Executive Chairwoman.
Daniel was escorted from the building with nothing more than a cardboard box.
Outside, reporters surrounded him.
"Mr. Ward, is it true you were fired by your own wife?"
