Labor began.
Ricardo refused to leave the hospital waiting room.
Neither did Valeria's younger brother, Daniel.
After sixteen exhausting hours...
A baby's cry echoed through the maternity ward.
"It's a boy."
Valeria held her son against her chest.
His tiny fingers wrapped around hers.
She smiled through tears.
"Hello, Mateo."
"You'll never know fear."
Ricardo quietly wiped his eyes.
"My grandson."
The following morning, unexpected visitors arrived.
The detective handling Santiago's case entered the room.
"We wanted you to know."
"Santiago Rivas has been denied bail."
"He'll remain in custody until trial."
Valeria looked down at Mateo sleeping peacefully.
"I don't hate him anymore."
The detective seemed surprised.
"No?"
"I simply refuse to let him occupy another minute of my life."
Outside the hospital, hundreds of reporters waited.
But Ricardo had already arranged a private exit.
