Alexander Vale stared at Richard Carter, suddenly realizing the man standing before him was no ordinary visitor. He recognized the face from magazine covers, financial summits, and the annual Forbes list. Richard Carter wasn't simply wealthy—he controlled one of the largest investment empires in the country.
Alexander forced a nervous laugh.
"There has to be some misunderstanding."
Richard didn't answer.
His eyes never left Emma's bruised face.
Behind him, two security officers quietly stepped into the room. Neither moved aggressively, yet their presence instantly stripped Alexander of every ounce of confidence.
Richard walked directly toward his daughter.
Without asking permission, he carefully lifted Emma to her feet.
His hands trembled slightly as he noticed the purple marks on her arms.

Emma lowered her eyes.

The attorney calmly connected the phone to a tablet.

"You're nothing without me."

"You've just built my entire case for me."
