Silence filled the ballroom after she lowered the phone.
The man who had humiliated her smirked.
"What? Calling someone to save you?" he mocked.
A few guests laughed.
Others looked away, unwilling to become part of the scene.
She wiped away her tears but said nothing.
Exactly three minutes later, the grand entrance doors opened.
Every conversation stopped.
A group of men in dark suits entered first, followed by an older gentleman with silver hair and an unmistakable presence. His tailored suit was simple, but the respect on every face around him spoke louder than any designer label ever could.
His eyes searched the room until they landed on her.
Without hesitation, he walked straight toward her.
"My child," he said softly, "who made you cry?"
She could barely answer.
She simply looked toward the man standing across from her.
The older gentleman turned.
The warmth disappeared from his face.
"You?"
The arrogant smile on the man's face slowly faded.
"You... you know him?" he asked.
The older man stepped closer.
"I don't just know her," he replied calmly.
"I'm the one who built the empire you spent years trying to compete with."
