Chapter 3: The Family They Almost Lost

Rain pounded against the mansion windows.

Victor himself entered the front gate.

An elderly man with cold eyes.

He smiled.

“Thirty years of hiding, Gabriel.”

Gabriel stepped forward.

“No more running.”

Victor laughed.

“Give me the envelope.”

Walker answered instead.

“No.”

Victor's smile disappeared.

Then Gabriel handed him something.

Victor opened the envelope.

His face changed instantly.

Inside wasn't money.

It was a confession.

Signed decades earlier.

Victor had committed fraud, bribery, and attempted murder.

Gabriel had already sent copies to federal investigators hours before arriving at the mansion.

Police sirens echoed in the distance.

Victor panicked.

“This isn't over!”

But Walker spoke calmly.

“Yes, it is.”

Moments later, police officers arrested Victor.

Silence returned to the mansion.

For the first time in thirty years...

Nobody was hiding anymore.

Walker's mother approached Gabriel.

“Can you ever forgive me?”

Gabriel looked at her for a long moment.

Then he gently hugged her.

“We already lost thirty years.”

“Let's not lose another day.”

Walker smiled.

Eleanor smiled.

Their little son reached toward Gabriel.

“Uncle Gabe.”

Gabriel laughed through tears.

The word he'd never heard before suddenly healed something inside him.

Months later, Gabriel moved into a guest house on the estate.

Not as a stranger.

Not as a ghost.

But as a Walker.

Every Sunday, the entire family gathered for dinner.

The nursery where they first met remained unchanged.

A reminder that sometimes, the greatest secrets don't destroy families.

The truth saves them.

And on one quiet evening, Walker raised his glass.

“To second chances.”

Gabriel smiled.

“No.”

May you like

“To finally coming home.”

THE END
