Chapter 1: The Woman in the Chair

The hallway fell silent.
Even the security guards seemed frozen in place.
The billionaire, Jonathan Hartwell, stared at his daughter as if he had forgotten how to breathe.
"What did you say?" he whispered.
The little girl, Emily, looked back at the empty armchair.
"She says you stopped coming to visit her."
The maid felt goosebumps spread across her arms.
Jonathan slowly approached. Every step seemed heavier than the last.
"Who says that, sweetheart?"
Emily tilted her head.
"The lady."
She pointed directly at the chair.
"The pretty lady with the blue eyes."
Jonathan's knees nearly gave out.
Because there had once been a woman with blue eyes who always sat in that chair.
His wife.
Emily's mother.
Sophia Hartwell.
Three years earlier, Sophia had died after a sudden illness. The chair had remained exactly where she left it. Nobody touched it. Nobody sat in it.
Not even Jonathan.
After her death, he buried himself in work, traveling endlessly, avoiding every memory that reminded him of the woman he had lost.
Including his own daughter.
Emily frowned.
"She's sad."
The billionaire's voice cracked.
"What else does she say?"
The little girl listened for a moment.
Then she smiled softly.
"She says she doesn't blame you."
Tears immediately filled Jonathan's eyes.
For the first time in years, the powerful businessman broke down in front of everyone.
And the maid suddenly understood.
The little girl wasn't haunted.
May you like
She was lonely.
And somehow, she had found a way to speak the truths nobody else dared to say.
