Chapter 2: The Name That Should Have Been Forgotten
The world seemed to stop.
The traffic noise faded into silence. Even the cold autumn wind felt as if it had frozen in place.
The billionaire's hand tightened around the stack of bills he had just handed over.
"What... did you say?"
The little girl looked up, confused by the sudden change in his face.
"Our mom's name is Elena Ward," she repeated softly. "Do you know her?"
His breathing became uneven.
Twenty years.
For twenty years he had believed Elena Ward was dead.
She had disappeared after a violent fire destroyed the old art district. The police never found her body, only ashes and unanswered questions. He searched for years before finally accepting the impossible.
Yet now...
Two little girls with Elena's fiery red hair stood in front of him, holding a portrait painted with the same delicate brushstrokes he knew by heart.
His bodyguards exchanged nervous glances.
"Sir?"
But he ignored them.
"Take me to your mother."
The twins hesitated.
"She's very sick," one whispered.
"Then we don't have another second to waste."
The billionaire removed his coat and gently wrapped it around the smaller twin before leading them toward his waiting limousine.
