Chapter 2: Secrets Behind the Walls

The next morning, detectives searched our house.

They asked me to stay outside.

Hours later, Detective Collins emerged carrying several boxes.

"We found identification under two different names."

There were passports.

Birth certificates.

Bank records.

Everything pointed to the same man living multiple identities over the past decade.

Then another officer found something even stranger.

Inside the garage wall was a locked metal box.

It contained newspaper clippings about children with asthma.

Every article had handwritten notes in the margins.

Dates.

Addresses.

Medical details.

I felt sick.

The detective gently closed the folder before I could read more.

"You don't need to see the rest."

"But I do."

She looked at me with sympathy.

"No. You really don't."
