Chapter 1: The First Strike

Chapter 1: The First Strike
Daniel carried his wife, Emma, and their newborn daughter into the warmth of a nearby military vehicle. Army medics rushed to treat them while heavy snow continued to blanket the estate.
Before the ambulance doors closed, Emma grabbed Daniel's trembling hand.
"They said... I wasn't worthy of your family anymore," she whispered. "Your father told the guards to throw me out... even after they knew I was in labor."
Daniel looked at his tiny daughter sleeping peacefully despite the nightmare surrounding her. Every promise he had made before deploying overseas echoed in his mind.
"I fought for strangers across the world," he said quietly. "Now it's time to fight for my own family."
He walked back toward the mansion alone.
His parents were still standing beside the fireplace, sipping expensive liquor as though nothing had happened.
"You've embarrassed this family enough," his father sneered. "That woman was beneath our name."
Daniel slowly removed every military medal from his uniform and placed them on the marble table.
"I earned these protecting people who deserved better than you."
His mother laughed.
"You own nothing here."
Daniel looked directly into his father's eyes.
"Neither do you... not anymore."
Without another word, he walked away.

Unknown to his parents, their longtime attorney had secretly helped Daniel establish legal ownership of several companies his grandfather had intended for him alone.
The battle had only begun.
